The BSE Sensex reclaimed its crucial 29,000 level in the early trade, while the broader Nifty-50 also rose above 8,950 after various exit polls. At 12 hours, the 30- share Sensex was up 42.46 points at 28,971, while the 50-share Nifty was ruling at 8,938, up 12 points.
BSE IT index rose 0.7% as the top gainer. Trigyn rose 3%, Mastek rose 2% and Aptech up 2%. Largecap IT stocks Infosys, TCS and Wipro also added over 1%.
Asian markets rose higher. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares added 0.1%. Japan’s Nikkei rose over 1%. , while China’s Shanghai Composite was little changed.
V2 Retail gains 2.12% to Rs 197.10 at morning hours on BSE after the company declared that it has launched one operational retail store at Varanasi, U.P. The stock had hit a 52- week high of Rs 204.90 on 8 March 2017 and a 52-week low of Rs 42 on 28 March 2016. The company’s net profit spurted 245.2% to Rs 33.38 crore on 55.7% increase in net sales to Rs 152.81 crore in Q3 December 2016 y-o- y.
Varun Beverages gained 0.8% to Rs 360.65 in morning hours on BSE after the company said it has divested 41% stake in its subsidiary Varun Beverages Mozambique.
